Six portraits have been donated to the New Zealand Portrait Gallery, Wellington by The Adam Foundation. The works include a portrait by Charles Frederick Goldie entitled Indecision: An Arawa Child from 1938. The generous donor Verna Adam says, “It’s good that the New Zealand Portrait Gallery now owns a Goldie. He was a fine portrait artist and deserves his place in our art history.” Director of the Gallery, Jaenine Parkinson says the works "add a richness and breadth to the Gallery’s collection we could never achieve by our own means" The other paintings include works by Raymond McIntyre, Peter McIntyre, Jacqueline Fahey, Olivia Spencer-Bower, and Richard Killeen. The works are to be unveiled on June 17th. See article from The Big Idea's Lowdown here.
