A recent British Antiques Roadshow included an appraisal of this silver trench watch from WWI.
Inscribed "Gunner W Ballantine, 21st Regiment NZRA 1916" it was owned by a New Zealand soldier.
An expat kiwi researched the name and found Mr William Ballantine lived in Invercargill.
The soldier survived the war and died in 1975.
