 A few years ago Philip Mould valued a marquette of The Angel of the North by Gormley at a million pounds. Recently aired in the U.K. the first million pound object has been named. The honours go to the 3rd version of an F.A. Cup used from 1872 - 1992. Read guardian story here.

 International Art Centre managed to pass the million dollar price point for an artwork sold at auction in New Zealand last night. Let Be Let Be by Colin McCahon realised $942,000 Australian back in August 2009, which ended up being over the million dollar mark, but that auction took place in Melbourne. See the article here.
 Lot 13 Fiona Pardington est $12-18,000 In recent news about the major restructure of New Zealand Post, it is not a surprise to see their art collection go on the auction block. Dunbar Sloane in Wellington will sell the collection over two parts within their first major art sale of 2016. Part One (Lots 1-18) features the higher valued works including Fiona Pardington, Judy Millar and Gretchen Albrecht and Part Two (Lots 262 - 281) the lower valued items. The sales take place next week on Thursday the 14th and Friday the 15th of April. The catalogue link is here.
  Next week the Auckland auction houses get underway with their first 'Important Art' Sales Categories of the year. First is International art Centre on Wednesday 6th April - starting at 6.30pm. Headlining is the last Goldie Portrait which may be the first Goldie to break the $1million mark at auction, together with what I.A.C. do well - historical New Zealand Landscapes. Webb's Paramount Sale is on the same night in Falcon Street, with a smaller offering of just over 100 works of various prices. Thursday 7th April at 6.30pm is Art + Object's turn with an interesting range of good paintings and photography.
 Taonga from one of Captain Cook's voyages that have been in Te Papa's collection since 1912 are to be returned to Hawaii. See Dominion Post article here.
