 Barry Brickell is having what may be his last selling show ever, in Devonport next week. Held at the Small Dog Gallery at the Depot Artspace, it opens on Saturday 12 July at 3.30pm and runs until July 31st. Click here for all the details.

Image: A gold and turquoise ring belonging author Jane Austen, sold for £152,450 – more than five times its pre-sale high estimate of £20,000-30,000. The previously unknown ring was sold by Sotheby's in London by descendants who had looked after it for 200 years. From 2012.  A record price for a piece of Chinese Art has been achieved for this 500 year old cup at auction in Hong Kong. Read more here.
 Public Art has had a hard time lately. Over the weekend the Whittaker's Easter Egg Hunt reported some of their eggs were vandalised. At the same time, Lopdell House has reported a Titirangi village based work (illustrated); part of the Conference of the Birds installation by Delicia Sampero, "has been seperated from the flock". Please contact them if you know where it is.
 A keen eyed person spotted the Keith Simpson work of a phoenix, stolen from the Epsom library in 2004, on a real estate website. The large and heavy work was then located in a roof space on the property in Ohakune. More here.
 An amazing find by a U.S. scrap dealer in a bric-a-brac market. He purchased it for its intrinsic value but after googling the marks realised what he had - a Fabergé egg last seen at auction 1964 then 'lost'. Read the Telegraph article here.

 This rare mug dating c.1754-55 from an important collection has gone above its £10,000-15,000 estimate to sell for 34,000 pounds at auction in Salisbury. Six phone bidders fought the battle for the 11.5cm high mug. More of the story here.
 Two Cartes-De-Visite taken in 1864 and 1865 depicting Lincoln and his son Tad are up for auction at Waverly Rare Book Auctions. Lot 243, one taken by Alexander Gardner on April 10, 1865, shows Lincoln reading to Tad. The second of the two images was taken by Anthony Berger on February 9, 1964, at Matthew Brady’s Washington studio. The lot carries a presale estimate of $800-$1,000. The auction is on March 20th.
